What are you trying to upgrade? the hardware? software? both?

There is not much upgrading when upgrading hardware. You can add more RAM, a bigger HD and on a few..... laptops, upgrade the video card/sound card but is not common. As far as software,

depends on the if you are upgrading the OS or just want to add more APPS. If you are planning on upgrading to XP, then make sure you have enough CPU power and enough RAM. You can borrow a XP install CD from someone and run the compatibility check built in to the CD and see of your laptop passes. If not, it will tell you what upgrades are needed in order to upgrade.

Good luck!
Sure. Do out and buy Windows XP or wait for Windows Vista. Or, add RAM, blah blah blah. Upgrading the processor gets more technical, maybe new hard drive.

You need to provide more details. If software, you need to give us the specs of your computer to see if it can be switch to XP, but more than likely it can...

And if hardware, we dont even know the make of that laptop, or how old it is...
