Hi,

When your computer is booting up, press the "del" or "F1" button, depending on the computer. This will take you to the bios of your computer. Once in the BIOS browse through those taps on the top until you see a screen that has "Boot Sequence". Normally your boot sequence is in the order of HDD(harddrive then Cd-rom etc..) change the boot sequence to CD-Rom 1st(the drive that you gonna put your Win2000 in). Insert the Win2000 into your CD or DVD drive. Exit the Bios, making sure that you SAVE it first, (believe it's F10 for save and exit. Now the computer will automatically reboot and this time it will be booting from your CD or DVD ROM and just follow the on screen instruction to re-install Win2000.

Put in the CD, reboot the computer, run an install. DONT choose Repair install, just do a clean install.
ask the person you nicked the pc from
if its a dell it has lifetime support if sold before 2004. call support.dell.com , they CANT send u the cd for 2000 as its not in stock, but if u have one they can help. all u have to do is read about it at support.dell.com with service tag it shows manuals and tips like how to boot from a cd and reinstall operating system
Just boot it up!

go to your boot sequence, and go to your first boot device.

as CD

and then your second as Hard drive..

If you want windows 2000

then u need the CD, to install it...
