You are going backwards but if that is what you want to do you should save all your data and format the drive then install Windows 98.
Windows 2000 will think you are messing up %26amp; refuse to install Windows 98.
If you have a windows 98 disk, you can try and see if it will install. But you really should think about installing windows xp, it's a better OS and has a better sercurity system. And soon microsoft will be dropping support for it. With the newest windows OS, windows vista, is already in progress and will be available to buy, windows 98 era, has come to an end. It's time to update your OS and get into the program.
format windows 2000 and then install the windows 98
Find a Windows 98 boot disk. Boot staight from the disk (don't let it boot into Windows 2000) and wipe the disk before you install (back up your data, of course).
u got to format your harddisk with FAT format and to do that insert your 2000 windows and start your computer then format the harddisk with FAT format then dont continue the installation of 2000. restart and insert the 98 windows and install.

Win98 won't install on an NTFS partition - however 2000 will run on a FAT32 partition - reformat the drive using FAT32 file system and then install em both.. it will work.

Get microsoft XP
You would need to either install and use a separate hard drive for each operating system or create a separate partition on your primary hard drive for the second operating system. You cannot install two different versions of Windows on one hard drive. If you aren't familiar with hard drive partitioning, FDISK, etc.. you should get someone more knowledgeable to assist or research it extensively before attempting it yourself.
