Trying to set up a team site with Microsoft Office 2000 on Windows XP?

Trying to set up a team site with Microsoft Office 2000 Professional on Windows XP and I keep reading that Office server exchange is necessary, but I cant find the install download for it, or actual documentation about the product. Right now we use a online file folder storage area and have a web site with hosted storage space. Is this the same, meaning would the exchange server be a better method of having a collaborated team site? With our online file folder we just hyperlink everything. Could anybody give me suggestions of the best, most effective way of organizing a company intranet site?

Setting up an Exchange server can be expensive and a bit daunting. If you'd like to try something easier, and while in beta, free, look at Microsoft Office Live. A web-based version of Outlook, etc.

Microsoft says it's "Ideal for companies where ongoing communication and information sharing are essential."

It's not clear what u really want .. but usially Exchange server is used to manage the group emails .. and exchange internal notes .. dont think has anything to do with storage space ..
